Local Authority Beacon Scheme "Promoting Financial Inclusion and Tackling Over-indebtedness" Theme launched March 2006

Local Authorities have an important role to play in promoting financial inclusion through their day-to-day contact with financially excluded individuals, as funders and providers of money advice, and through local initiatives. The Beacon Scheme recognises excellence in local government and supports the dissemination of best practice.

The application brochure for Round 8 of the Beacon Scheme, including the theme "Promoting Financial Inclusion and Tackling Over-indebtedness", was launched on 20 March by the Local Government Minister. Details of the initiative, including the application brochure, can be found on www.idea.gov.uk/beacons. Applications must be submitted by 23 June 2006.
